About Vibrational Sound Therapy

  • Simply put, Vibrational Sound Therapy (VST) is a one-on-one session where you lay fully clothed on a massage table and I place and strike therapeutic grade Himalayan singing bowls on your body. The goal is to produce a deep mental and physical state of relaxation. I incorporate simple breathwork techniques into your session because breathwork can hasten your body entering into a truly relaxed parasympathetic state . None of the breathwork techniques I use are activating to your nervous system, they are all very gentle.

Vibrational Sound Therapy is a fantastic way for people who want to spend some time reducing stress in a self-care setting but who may not like a lot of physical hands on touch, like with massage therapy. In my VST sessions, only the bowls touch your body.

  • What I know to be true about VST is that it is a powerful relaxation technique. Although that sounds very simple, we shouldn’t underestimate the power of true relaxation on our bodies. The act of being in a calm state promotes healing. Stress is at the root of many diseases and illnesses in our modern world. Anxiety and depression are challenging mental states in people of all ages. The importance of finding productive relaxation techniques is crucial for optimal health.

Other reported benefits of VST are:

    • Reduce stress

    • Reduce pain

    • Ease blockages and tension

    • Reduce depression

    • Improve sleep

    • Boost creativity

    • Improve concentration

***You will find many, many other reported benefits of Vibrational Sound Therapy and sound therapy in general online. In my opinion some of these claims are over the top. VST is not a cure to any disease. It is simply a pathway to coax a body into a state of relaxation and calmness, which in turn allows space for your body to exhibit powerful, positive physical and mental benefits.

  • When you come into my studio, if it is your first time seeing me you will fill out a questionnaire and waiver. We will have a short conversation and then you will you will lay on a massage table, fully clothed. I will teach you some calming breathwork techniques as tools for you to use during your session (and in your life!). I make sure you are comfortable and then I begin the session.

Everyone’s experience with VST is unique. It is just as common for emotions to rise to the surface as it is for a person to literally be so relaxed they fall asleep. If you choose, you can set an intention for your session and allow thoughts based around that intention to flow freely through your mind. Or you can simply focus on your breath and feel that wonderful space of calmness between being awake and asleep. Also important, every VST session is different for the same individual as well. Generally speaking, you will enter your deeply relaxed state faster with each subsequent session.

  • You can do VST as often as you want. It is beneficial to have weekly or bi-weekly sessions since you will likely experience increased benefits with more time committed. In addition, it is helpful for some people to have scheduled time set aside for self-care, making it more of a priority to get done.

  • VST is very safe for most people. You should always talk to your doctor if you have any condition that may make you wonder if it is okay for you. Following is a list of circumstances where it cannot be performed. This is not an exhaustive list so if you have a particular concern please always talk to your doctor first.

-If you have recently had a heart attack or stroke

-If you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol

-If you have a high fever
